I’m originally from Newark, N.J. I went into the Navy immediately after graduating from Eastside High School in 1966. I served in the Navy aboard the USS Randolph CVS-15. That is when I got hooked on cigars. After the Navy I was able to get hired on a police department in New York. In December of 2001, I retired from the State of New York MTA Police Department. A few years after retirement my wife and I moved to Nevada and now reside in Las Vegas. I’m currently the Treasurer for the Smoking Shields NV, Las Vegas Chapter. I’m also a member of a few other organizations Elks, Knights of Columbus, Las Vegas Emerald Society Pipes and Drums and a former member of the Westchester County Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drum Band. My favorite cigars now are the Southern Draw Desert Rose, Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 and the Line of Duty Hero. For many years my go to cigar was an Onyx. Back in December 1997 issue of Cigar Aficionado magazine, section “moments to remember” is a photo of 4 other cigar enthusiasts with myself smoking Onyx Maduro’s. This photo was taken at West Point Military Academy during the Military Pipes and Drum Tattoo.
